Perk Up with a Breast Lift!

Not quite a full blown breast augmentation, a breast lift is a type of plastic surgery that can correct sagging or misshapen breasts caused by decreased skin elasticity, dramatic weight loss, or pregnancy. This procedure is an integral part of what is known as a “Mommy Makeover” and caters to women who are generally satisfied with the size of their breasts but want to raise them up, in order to achieve a more youthful breast contour.
Many female patients report a significant loss of breast volume over time. In these situations, implants can be inserted in concert with a breast lift; resulting in an increase of breast size. Accomplishing both of these procedures has the added effect of enhancing the shape and position of the breasts.

Usually a breast lift involves three incisions. The first is made around the areola while the second incision runs from the bottom edge of the areola to the area underneath the breast. The final incision follows the natural curve of the breast crease.

After the plastic surgeon has removed any excess skin, the nipple is shifted to a higher position and the areola can be reduced in size to compensate for stretching or any deformity that may have developed over time. Skin located just above the areola is then brought down beneath to achieve the natural, younger looking breast shape.

The nipples and areolas remain attached to the underlying tissue and helps to facilitate sensitivity and the ability to breast-feed. There are many variations to the design of the approach for breast lift surgery including the size and shape of your breasts, size and shape of your areolas, and extent of sagging. All of these factors will play role during the consultation for your breast lift.

Time, gravity, and childbirth do not have to have the last word on your physical appearance or self-esteem. Having a breast lift has helped millions of women look and feel great… why not you? Why not now?
