About Gynecomastia Surgery
It’s normal for men to have breast growth during puberty because of fluctuating hormone levels. But if you never quite grew out of having male breasts or if you’re nowhere near puberty, we understand how distressing it can be. Society expects a certain sculpted and masculine look when you take your shirt off at the pool or during intimate situations, and “man boobs” can cause you to keep your shirt on or avoid these situations altogether. This condition is called gynecomastia, and it’s important to know that you have solutions if you’ve been subjected to teasing or if you don’t feel heard when you express your issues with self-esteem. Gynecomastia surgery removes excess breast tissue and fat to create a flatter chest that helps you feel more confident and masculine. It can help you worry less about taking your shirt off and spend more time feeling like your most authentic self.

Preparation is key to any successful surgery. Dr. Tehrani will give you detailed preparation instructions during your consultation, including:
- Avoid blood-thinning medications, anti-inflammatories, and herbal supplements ahead of surgery since these can affect the safety of your procedure.
- Designate a responsible adult to stay with you during the first 24 hours after your surgery.
- Stop smoking and avoid all nicotine products ahead of your surgery date. Avoid alcohol during this time, too.
- Arrange for travel to and from your surgery with a responsible adult. You’ll be unable to drive yourself home afterward.
- Follow directions for fasting and avoiding water the night before surgery. Failing to follow these directions can mean your surgery will be rescheduled.
VASER HI DEF for Men
VASER HI DEF is a liposuction technology that can uncover better muscle definition in areas like the chest. It uses gentle ultrasound waves to emulsify fat and allow for easy removal through a tiny entry point in the skin. If you’re struggling with small amounts of fat on your chest and want to see more sculpted pectoral muscles, VASER HI DEF may be a good option.
Gynecomastia Surgery
Gynecomastia surgery is a procedure that removes breast tissue through an incision around the nipple. Breast tissue is often too dense to be effectively removed through liposuction, meaning surgical removal is often best. If you have firm, female-like breast tissue or more considerable fat around your chest, gynecomastia surgery is often the best choice.
Gynecomastia Surgery Recovery
Most men can return to work and regular activities within two weeks, although you’ll need to avoid exercise and intensive activity for up to six weeks. If you work a physical job, Dr. Tehrani will give you a more personalized estimate of when you can return. It’s normal to have some swelling and discomfort for the first few days. You’ll need to wear a compressive vest as much as possible throughout your recovery period – this helps prevent fluid buildup and manage swelling.
With dedicated diet and exercise to prevent weight fluctuations, you can enjoy a flatter, more masculine chest for years to come.
Male Body Contouring
Gynecomastia can be part of a larger body contouring package. If you have other areas you want to see slimmed and contoured, male body contouring is a great option.
Tummy Tuck
Many men combine gynecomastia surgery with a tummy tuck. This combination can produce a slimmer, more masculine torso.
Emsculpt
Emsculpt is a completely non-surgical way to build muscle mass and is a popular option among men. If you want to see noticeable results from your gym efforts, Emsculpt can help.

Reduce Breast Tissue
Men naturally have small amounts of breast tissue, which is normally unobtrusive. Gynecomastia causes it to grow and become more prominent. By removing this breast tissue, gynecomastia surgery is a long-lasting solution to this issue for many men.
Contour the Chest
Gynecomastia surgery doesn’t just remove breast tissue or fat – it ensures the whole chest appears masculine and attractive. Dr. Tehrani might use various types of liposuction to contour and sculpt your chest at the same time.
Remove Fat
Gynecomastia can sometimes be caused by excess fat, especially if you’ve experienced weight fluctuations. This type of gynecomastia, called pseudogynecomastia, can be treated with liposuction or another form of fat reduction.
