Avéli – The Cellulite Solution
Offered at our convenient location in Newport Beach, CA
The Avéli™ treatment is a one-time, minimally invasive procedure approved by the FDA for reducing cellulite on the buttocks and thighs. The procedure involves a handheld device inserted under the skin to separate the septae (bands of connective tissue) that connect to the skin’s surface and create dimples. [1] Patients can see an improvement in the appearance of cellulite after treatment. While cellulite is not a medical concern and does not pose any health risks, it can be a source of distress for many people who feel self-conscious about their appearance as a result. Cellulite can affect people’s self-esteem and body image and may lead to feelings of embarrassment or insecurity. Some people may feel uncomfortable wearing certain types of clothing or participating in activities that expose their cellulite, which can limit their social and recreational activities.
Tehrani Plastic Surgery in Newport Beach, CA, is excited to be one of the first to offer Avéli™ for a meaningful reduction in cellulite dimples. Dr. Tehrani is board-certified and is thrilled to offer cutting-edge procedures to his patients. Treating cellulite has long eluded the medical community, but this new treatment has shown incredible results. More About Avéli
Avéli was developed in Silicon Valley, and was designed based on the anatomical structure of cellulite dimples. While many treatments attempt to approach cellulite externally, Avéli allows doctors to identify and directly resolve the specific fibrous structures causing each cellulite dimple. And, it only takes one minimally-invasive treatment.
What is Cellulite?
Cellulite, a condition that is characterized by dimpled skin, affects 80-90% of women who have reached puberty. [2] If you have it, you know exactly what it is. Cellulite depressions range in shape and size, and are typically found on the buttocks and thighs.
Cellulite is caused by fibrous bands called septa. These structures of connective tissue travel through the layer of fatty tissue to connect to the skin to hold it in place. Obviously, the septa play an important role, however, in certain cases they can contract and stiffen, pulling the skin inwards, and causing the dreaded dimples that characterize cellulite.
Precision is the name of the game with Avéli. Only the problematic bands that cause cellulite are released, making this a next-level treatment approach to the cellulite problem.
Avéli is not the first treatment to address cellulite-causing septae, but its design allows doctors to identify, target, and release specific bands while leaving the surrounding tissue intact and using only a small, discreet incision. These features minimize side effects and downtime and improve the treatment results.
During the process of cutting the septae, doctors receive instant feedback, making it clear when a remaining band needs to be further cut. However, it’s important to note that Avéli only works on specific cellulite depressions and does not address issues with sagging skin. Therefore, Dr. Tehrani will carefully evaluate your skin to determine if you are a good candidate for the procedure.
What are the Benefits of Avéli?
Avéli cellulite treatment is minimally invasive and requires only a single treatment session. Several treatments are available for cellulite, including injectable biologic treatments, dermal fillers, topical agents, massage, laser and light therapy, acoustic and vacuum-assisted subcision, and radiofrequency devices. Some of these treatments may have minimal downtime or do not require local anesthesia, but most must be repeated multiple times to achieve significant results. [3]
Further benefits include that Dr. Tehrani can verify that the targeted cellulite dimple has been released during the course of treatment. Avéli has fewer side effects than previous cellulite treatments and is FDA-approved. Furthermore, Avéli treatments promise minimal downtime.
Candidates
If you are a woman in La Jolla and Apple Valley, CA, looking for a visible reduction in cellulite dimples from a single, minimally invasive in-office procedure, Avéli™ could be for you!
Before undergoing the Avéli cellulite treatment, candidates should be in good general health and have realistic expectations. Ideal candidates should have a BMI of less than 30. [4] Additionally, patients must not have had liposuction in the treatment area. The best outcomes are seen in patients with minimal skin laxity. Most patients are between 25 and 45 years old, but there are no age restrictions for the Avéli treatment.
If we determine that cellulite is primarily caused by skin laxity, Avéli may not be the best treatment for you. At Tehrani Plastic Surgery, patients can tone muscles and reduce fat with Emsculpt treatments and improve skin laxity with Morpheus8.

Preparation
Generally, no special preparation is needed for the Avéli treatment. During your consultation, we will review all pre-treatment instructions, which may include medications and supplements to avoid before and after the treatment and additional medications and supplements to aid in recovery.
The Avéli Procedure
A typical procedure will take around an hour, including local anesthesia and the procedure itself. The exact timing will vary depending on the personalized procedure plan from Dr. Tehrani. Before the procedure begins, the treatment area is anesthetized with injections of lidocaine to ensure patients remain comfortable. The Avéli device is a long, needle-like handpiece that is inserted under the skin through a small incision.
At the end of the device are a light and a bladed hook. The light helps Dr. Tehrani see clearly under the skin, measure the device’s depth, and follow the hook as it is moved toward cellulite dimples. The aim is to stay closer to the surface of the skin, and the brightness of the light changes based on the depth of the device.
To release the septum, the hook is first attached, then, a blade is unlocked with the press of a button to cut the fibrous band. Dr. Tehrani should be able to feel and see the release happen in real time, and the dimple should immediately release.
After cutting the band, the blade is withdrawn, and the hook is passed under the tissue to ensure that the septum has been completely severed. If any bands are still present, the hook will encounter them, indicating that additional cellulite-causing septae need to be removed. The blade is sharp enough to treat both the buttocks and thighs in one treatment.
After the treatment, the incisions will be covered with absorbent dressings and pads. The entire procedure usually takes about one hour to complete.
Recovery After Avéli Treatment
There is little to no downtime after your Avéli procedure. In the clinical study, most patients returned to normal activities within 24-48 hours.
What are the Results of Avéli?
Imagine not having to examine the dimples of your buttock and thighs every time you try on clothes in a dressing room. Imagine wearing a bathing suit with pride. Imagine more confidence in the bedroom!

Corresponding & Complementary Procedures
Patients who want to add fullness to the buttock will love the benefits of the Brazilian butt lift. Also known as butt augmentation or gluteoplasty, BBL is a popular cosmetic surgery procedure involving transferring fat from one area of the body to the buttocks to enhance their shape and size. The procedure is performed using liposuction to remove excess fat from the stomach, thighs, or other areas and then injecting the purified fat into the buttocks to add volume and contour. The goal of a Brazilian butt lift is to create a more youthful, full, and rounded appearance to the buttocks.
For patients with skin laxity in the buttock area, BodyTite is an incredible solution. BodyTite is a minimally invasive body contouring procedure that uses radiofrequency (RF) energy to tighten and firm the skin. The procedure is performed using a device that delivers RF energy through small incisions in the skin, heating the underlying tissue and stimulating collagen production. The heat also causes the fat cells to break down, which can be removed through liposuction.
BodyTite can be used to treat a variety of areas, including the abdomen, thighs, buttocks, arms, and neck. The results of BodyTite may include firmer, smoother, and more toned skin, as well as improved contours in the treated areas.
What is the Cost of Avéli in Apple Valley?
